This past Monday saw the arrival, at the Santa Apolónia Cruise Ship Terminal in Lisbon, of the world’s biggest Residential Yacht, the World, which houses nearly 200 families who can now visit the Portuguese capital city.
This Cruise is only one of hundreds that make landfall in Lisbon every year, and the numbers of this kind of tourism have witnessed a steady growth in recent years. According to data from the Porto de Lisboa, the Lisbon Port Authority, in the first 6 months of 2018, 148 cruise ships have landed in Lisbon, bringing with them more than 220 thousand passengers, a 15% increase when compared to the same period last year.
Now that Summer and the High Season have started, these numbers are forecast to keep its growth trajectory. In 2018 350 cruise ships with 600 thousand passengers are expected. If these numbers are confirmed it would be a 15% increase when compared to 2017.
